Over 200 rental housing professionals attended the annual CAA Greater Fresno Tradeshow and Luncheon last month at Tornino’s Banquets. Twenty-seven local industry partners showcased their products and services at the March 24 event. The vendors — from carpet cleaners to advertising companies to security services — revealed how their offerings can save owners money while making their businesses more efficient. Guest speaker Angel Rogers from S.T.A.R. (Specialized Training by Angel Rogers) provided an in-depth overview of marketing, leasing and customer service. Rogers covered trends in staffing, review sites, social media and the hottest colors trends for 2015.

The California Apartment Association this weekend honored the Greater Fresno area's top rental housing professionals and properties during the 17th Annual Mark of Distinction Awards. On Saturday, Nov. 22, nearly 700 CAA members and industry partners brimmed with anticipation as they paraded into the Fresno Convention Center to find out who would receive the coveted MOD award.

CAA Greater Fresno held its third annual Reverse Trade Show on Tuesday, June 10, at the Ramada Inn in Fresno. This event is a twist on the traditional trade show, with property management companies as the exhibitors and industry partner members as the attendees. Sixteen local property management companies served as exhibitors, bringing key decision-makers from operations, marketing and maintenance departments. Industry partner members had five appointments with companies they pre-selected, each lasting eight minutes. More than 80 local CAA Greater Fresno members attended the 16th annual PAC Golf Fundraiser at the River Park Golf Center in Fresno. At the on May 21 event, golf teams played the nine-hole golf course, and the Closest to the Hole prize went to local CAA Greater Fresno member Kenneth Hendricks. Other members played croquet. The evening concluded with a tri-tip dinner. The event raised more than $4,000 for the California Apartment Association’s political action fund. Meth-lab type explosions occur while making pot-based product The rental housing industry is seeing an explosion in marijuana use — literally. Property damage and personal injury reports have been rising as more drug manufacturers use butane to extract and concentrate compounds from marijuana. The end product is a clear, golden brown cannabis derivative known by different names, such as hash oil, dabs, shatter, wax, milk, ear wax, honey, snake tails, or butane hash oil.
