Long Beach’s Just Cause Eviction Ordinance Overview

On February 18, 2020, the Long Beach City Council voted to adopt a Just Cause Eviction Ordinance as an emergency ordinance which caused it to become effective immediately. “Just cause” requirements take away a landlord’s ability to use a “no cause” notice to terminate a month-to-month tenancy under state law.

County Source of Income Discrimination Law

Effective July 19, 2019, within the incorporated areas of the County of Los Angeles, the County prohibits discrimination based on a tenant’s source of income, including the receipt of housing subsidies, such as Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers.
