As expected, Assemblywoman Buffy Wicks, D-Oakland, is trying again to create a statewide rental registry.

On Tuesday, Wicks introduced AB 2406, which would create a rental registry for all California landlords with more than five units.

Last year, the California Apartment Association helped kill a similar bill, AB 724, which had an initial price tag north of $20 million and negative privacy implications for both landlords and tenants.
