A bill moving through the state Senate would treat unpaid rent from the pandemic as consumer debt – just like an unpaid credit card.
The legislation, SB 1324 by Sen. Maria Elena Durazo, D-Los Angeles, now awaits a hearing in the Senate Appropriations Committee after passing the Judiciary Committee on Tuesday and the Banking and Finance Committee last week.
