After years of advocacy by the California Apartment Association and in front of a packed house, the L.A. City Council agreed Tuesday on a definitive end date to the emergency COVID-19 eviction moratorium.
“We thank every housing provider who showed up to City Hall and volunteered hours of their time,” said Fred Sutton, CAA’s senior vice president of local public affairs. “Your involvement has been paramount.”
The council approved a moratorium end date of Jan. 31, 2023. The rent freeze on rent controlled properties will continue for another year, ending in early 2024.
