Update: The Legislature has approved SB 1477 and its fate now rests with Gov. Newsom.
The California Apartment Association continues to call on landlords across the state to contact their lawmakers and urge a no vote on legislation that would hinder their ability to collect unpaid rent.
The bill, SB 1477 by state Sen. Bob Wieckowski, D-Fremont, would limit the use of wage garnishment for collecting back rent and other debts from most Californians.
The proposal protects tenants making over $200,000.
Rental housing providers can help stop this destructive proposal. Do your part by calling and emailing your Assembly member via CAA’s grassroots advocacy tool.
