The California Apartment Association promotes and protects California’s rental housing industry while fostering a climate in which rental property owners are best positioned to succeed. To do so, CAA engages in political activity to help elect candidates who support policies friendly to the rental housing industry and that allow rental owners to continue providing quality homes to California families. Your donations to these funds make a difference in the fight to protect the rights of property owners.

Protecting Your Rights in the Courts

The CAA Legal Fund finances court action to protect the rental housing industry from policies such as unconstitutional eviction restrictions and the imposition of rent control in conflict with state law. Directly Support Candidates Who Support Our Industry

This CAA-sponsored non-profit, bipartisan, nonpartisan committee directly contributes to and supports candidates seeking elective public office at the local and state level who understand the importance of the rental housing industry to a vibrant local and state economy and the investment of capital by rental housing providers to offer housing opportunities to those who rent their homes. Contributions to CAAPAC are reported to California’s Secretary of State and are not tax deductible.

Independent Support for Candidates Who Support Our Industry

CAA’s Independent Expenditure Committee is a nonprofit, nonpartisan committee that spends money independently of CAAPAC on local and state candidates running for elective office. The committee is independent of all candidate campaigns and uses mail, digital communication, billboards, TV, radio, etc., to communicate directly to voters. These funds are used to educate voters as to why they should or should not vote to support various candidates. These funds and campaign activities are not coordinated with a candidate’s campaign. This fund does not contribute to local, state, or federal candidate campaigns or elected officials. Donations to CAAIEC are reported to California’s Secretary of State and are not tax deductible.

State and Local Ballot Measures

This CAA-sponsored committee supports ballot measures that enhance housing providers’ ability to provide housing opportunities to those who rent. And it opposes local and state ballot measures that adversely affect rental housing providers’ financial ability to provide housing opportunities. This fund does not contribute to local, state, or federal candidate campaigns or elected officials. Donations to the CAAIPAC are not tax deductible and are reported to the Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC).
