The California Apartment Association is gearing up for its Sacramento Rental Housing Round-Up, a virtual event that will review the latest trends in the rental housing market, as well as challenges facing the industry.

During the June 28 event, Will Austin, director of market analytics at CoStar Group, will present an in-depth analysis of the state of the rental market in the capital region. Austin, who has a decade of commercial real estate experience, will discuss comparisons between the pandemic peaks and current market conditions.

His session will address multiple facets of the market, including demand, development, and rent trends in the Sacramento area. Austin will also highlight Sacramento’s appeal to those residing outside the region, the impact of construction on the market, and strategies that properties are using as demand slows and finding renters becomes increasingly challenging.

Joining Austin at the Round-Up will be a panel of industry experts from the CAA. The panel includes Debra Carlton, executive vice president for state government affairs; Joshua Howard, executive vice president for local public affairs; Mallori Farrell, senior vice president for local public affairs; and Mallory Homewood, policy and compliance counsel for local government affairs.

The event will also feature a discussion about the top state and local industry issues and the ways CAA is tackling these challenges. Moreover, participants will gain insights into the association’s ongoing legal efforts to protect rental property owners and the initiatives being undertaken to safeguard rental housing in Sacramento and other parts of California.

The Sacramento Rental Housing Round-Up will start at 2:30 p.m. June 28. Online registration is required, and the event costs $15 for CAA members and $35 for nonmembers.
