A bill recently introduced in the California Assembly would allow certain individuals to pose as prospective tenants and secretly record conversations with landlords to gather evidence of potential discriminatory housing practices.
Under AB 1086 by Assemblyman Kevin McCarty, D-Sacramento, the secret recordings would be made by an investigator or “tester” for a qualified fair housing enforcement organization.
