The state Senate has approved a pair of CAA-sponsored bills that together would help more landlords recover from the COVID-19 pandemic and clarify how California’s anti-price-gouging law applies to rental housing after emergency declarations.

On Wednesday, the Senate approved Sen. Melissa Hurtado’s COVID rent relief bill on a vote of 36-0, and Sen. Bob Archuleta’s emergency-related bill by vote of 37-1. Both proposals now head to the state Assembly.
