The Santa Barbara City Council last week advanced a “temporary” rent cap proposal, although a change of leadership at City Hall could prevent its implementation.
A motion to draft the “temporary” rent cap ordinance and rent registry passed Dec. 7 on a 4-3 vote following more than three hours of testimony, including objections from the California Apartment Association and allied organizations.
