Rental housing providers who missed CAA’s live webinar on security deposits have another opportunity to access this important training — and at the lowest price yet.

The rebroadcast of Security Deposits: Ins & Outs will be offered Oct. 15, 2025, at 10 a.m. for $30 for CAA members and $45 for non-members. That’s a savings compared with the original live session and significantly less than the on-demand version, which is $55 for members and $95 for non-members.

This hourlong course, which qualifies for 1 unit of CCRM continuing education credit, will review California’s strict security deposit laws and address common points of dispute. Among the topics covered:

  • Changes to the law effective April 1 and July 1, 2025
  • Maximum allowed security deposits based on the type of landlord and tenant
  • Updated rules for deducting for cleaning and repairs
  • New requirements to photograph the rental unit
  • The walkthrough process
  • Security deposit return requirements

The program features presentations by Whitney Prout, executive vice president of legal affairs for CAA, and Mallory Homewood, policy and compliance counsel for local government affairs at the association.

Like the original live session, the rebroadcast plays at a scheduled time and can only be viewed once. Because it is a replay, there will not be a live Q&A. For those who prefer to watch at their convenience — pausing and rewatching as needed — the on-demand version remains available. The rebroadcast offers the same expert-led training on California’s complex security deposit laws at the most affordable price.
