At the California Apartment Association, our hearts go out to the victims of the wildfires that have ravaged Northern and Southern California.

We know that CAA members are eager to help any way they can.

Here are links to some of the agencies that are taking donations:

The American Red Cross: Help people affected by the California wildfires by visiting redcross.org, calling 1-800-RED CROSS or texting the word CAWILDFIRES to 90999 to make a $10 donation. Donations enable the Red Cross to prepare for, respond to and help people recover from these disasters. To donate, click here and use the dropdown menu to select California Wildfires.

Northern California fires

North Valley Community Foundation: This fund is providing financial resources to organizations responding to those affected by the Northern California fires. Click here to contribute.

United Way of Northern California: The organization has established the NorCal Disaster Relief Fund to aid victims of the Camp Fire. To make a donation, text BUTTEFIRE to 91999, or visit www.norcalunitedway.org and click the “Donate” button. Businesses and organizations interested in contributing to the fund or partnering with United Way in this effort can contact Jacob Peterson, UWNC development director, at jpeterson@norcalunitedway.org, 530-241-7521 or 916-218-5424.

Butte County Schools Fire Relief Fund: The county Office of Education created the Schools Fire Relief Fund to provide a one-stop location for individuals or organizations to provide monetary support directly to schools in the county.

Southern California fires

The Salvation Army, California South Division: The Salvation Army is providing financial assistance and support to all communities, as funding is available. So far, the organization has provided long-term financial assistance to over 240 households, totaling $564,629.

United Way Greater Los Angeles: The Southern California Disaster Relief Fund is supporting low-income residents affected by the wildfires in Southern California.

Ventura County Community Foundation: This organization has set up the the Hill Fire/Woolsey Fire Sudden and Urgent Needs Effort Fund to support the immediate needs of community nonprofit organizations serving those affected by the fires.
