The California Apartment Association has asked Gov. Newsom to lift several wildfire-related states of emergency that have capped rent increases for several years.

The emergency declarations have remained in place in Los Angeles and Ventura counties since November 2018, and in Sonoma and Napa counties since October 2017.

In a letter to the governor, CAA contends the emergency declarations should expire as scheduled on Dec. 31, 2021.
