The Beverly Hills City Council voted unanimously last week to allow the local emergency eviction moratorium and rent freeze to lapse on May 31.
Both policies had been in place since the pandemic shut down the economy in March 2020.
“We appreciate the council taking these actions” said Fred Sutton, senior vice president of public affairs for the California Apartment Association. “It is long past time for all cities to let any remaining emergency housing measures passed during the height of the pandemic to lapse.”
More details on the council’s decision are available in this city staff report.
