The California Apartment Association has forged a strong working relationship with the next speaker of the state Assembly, Anthony Rendon, and looks forward to collaborating with him in his new leadership role.
Last week, Rendon won the speakership by a unanimous vote from his Assembly colleagues. He is set to take over the post in early March as current Assembly Speaker Toni Atkins is forced out by term limits.
Under new term limits rules, he is eligible to serve until 2024, which would make him one of the longest serving Assembly speakers.
Rendon represents the 63rd Assembly District, which includes the cities of Bell, Hawaiian Gardens, Lakewood, Paramount, South Gate in Los Angeles and a northern portion of Long Beach.
He was first elected to the Assembly in 2012 and has a particular interest in the environment and early childhood education.
CAA has worked with Rendon on various issues, and when Rendon first ran for the Assembly, CAA was one of his earliest supporters.
