Rental housing providers who missed CAA’s live webinar on the tenant screening process have another opportunity to access this important training — and at the lowest price yet.

The rebroadcast of Tenant Screening Process will be offered Nov. 19, 2025, at 10 a.m. for $30 for CAA members and $45 for non-members. That’s a savings compared with the original live session and significantly less than the on-demand version, which costs $55 for members and $95 for non-members.

This 90-minute course, which qualifies for one unit of CCRM continuing education credit, will help California landlords navigate the complex web of state laws, local ordinances, and fair housing rules that govern tenant screening. Among the topics covered:

  • Changes to the screening fee law effective Jan. 1, 2025, requiring new application. handling policies when charging screening fees.
  • Maximum screening fee amounts and receipt requirements.
  • Importance of written screening criteria and policies.*
  • Rental application and screening fee procedures
  • Requirements when using credit, eviction, and background reports.
  • Verifying application information.
  • Issuing acceptance, conditional approval, and denial notices.
  • Fair housing considerations.

* Please note that while this course touches on the importance of written screening criteria, it does not cover how to develop such criteria.

Like the original live session, the rebroadcast plays at a scheduled time and can only be viewed once. Because it is a replay, there will not be a live Q&A. For those who prefer to watch at their convenience — pausing and rewatching as needed — the on-demand version remains available.

The rebroadcast offers the same expert-led training on California’s tenant screening laws at the most affordable price.
