The California Apartment Association is opposing a plan to create a rent registry in Glendale.

The rent registry proposal, which goes before the Glendale City Council and Glendale Housing Authority on Tuesday, would require rental housing operators and owners to register their rental units and disclose information on their rent rolls.

Such a requirement would expose rental housing providers to unnecessary risks, including lawsuits, by invading the privacy of tenants, as it could require owners to disclose their addresses, their utility costs, the number and size of their bedrooms and bathrooms.
