California rental housing providers can get answers to recurring questions about service and support animals during a free California Apartment Association webinar at 10 a.m. Sept. 30.
The live question-and-answer session will feature an attorney from the California Civil Rights Department, the state agency that enforces fair housing laws.
“Compliance Conversations: Common Questions About Service and Support Animals” will examine frequent areas of confusion that arise when housing providers receive requests involving service or support animals. The discussion will also cover recent changes to federal guidance from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and what those changes do — and do not — mean for California housing providers.
Presenters will include Whitney Prout, CAA executive vice president of legal affairs, and Kara Brodfueher, an attorney in the Civil Rights Department’s Education and Outreach unit. Attendees may submit questions in advance through the Zoom registration form to help shape the discussion.
The webinar is open to CAA members and the public. It will be offered live only and will not be recorded. The session qualifies for one unit of CCRM continuing education credit.
