CAA members are invited to a free virtual membership meeting on Thursday, July 16, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. for the latest updates on major legal and legislative threats facing California rental housing providers.
CAA’s legal and government affairs teams will brief members on what is happening at the State Capitol, what CAA has helped stop or is still fighting, and the court cases that could significantly affect rental housing operations across the state.
Topics will include:
- A federal lawsuit in Oakland that seeks to use disability law to override Costa-Hawkins and expand rent control to apartments built after 1983.
- State legislation affecting eviction cases, rent caps, 1031 exchanges, and disclosure obligations for properties near oil or abandoned wells.
- CAA’s ongoing litigation over proposed restrictions on gas appliances in rental housing.
- Other legal and legislative developments members should be watching.
The meeting is free and open exclusively to CAA members. To register, log in to your CAA member account on the CAA website.
