Los Angeles housing providers can continue CAA’s two-part webinar series on local rental housing rules when the series concludes July 22 with a session focused on the city’s rent control rules under the Rent Stabilization Ordinance.
The session, “Rent Control in the City of Los Angeles: The Rent Stabilization Ordinance,” runs from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. and will walk through the RSO’s rent control rules in a structured, practical way. Topics include RSO applicability, tenant notification requirements, rent registration and fees, annual allowable rent increases, recent changes to the CPI formula, additional tenant rules, and rent increases requiring department approval.
Part 2 follows the series’ first session, “Eviction Rules in the City of Los Angeles,” which covered the RSO and the city’s Just Cause for Eviction Ordinance — the two local laws that together apply just cause eviction protections to nearly all residential rental units in Los Angeles. That session aired live last month and is now available only on demand.
Housing providers can register for Part 2 alone — live or live plus on-demand — catch up on Part 1 on demand, or purchase an on-demand bundle of both sessions:
- Part 2 (live): $45 for CAA members, $85 for non-members. Live and on-demand access: $55 for members, $95 for non-members. Register for Part 2
- Part 1 (on demand): $55 for members, $95 for non-members. Register for Part 1
- Both parts bundled (on demand): $85 for members, $115 for non-members. This bundle includes recorded access to both sessions; it does not include a live seat in the July 22 session. Purchase the bundle
Whitney Prout, CAA’s executive vice president of legal affairs, and Mallory Homewood, the association’s policy and compliance counsel for local government affairs, teach both sessions. Part 1 qualifies for two units of CCRM continuing education credit, Part 2 for one unit, and the bundle for three units total.
