Gov. Gavin Newsom on Thursday, Nov. 7, declared a state of emergency in Ventura County due to the Mountain Fire, which has burned more than 19,600 acres, destroyed structures, and forced evacuations. This emergency proclamation activates California’s anti-price-gouging law, which limits rent increases within the affected area.
