The Los Angeles City Council’s Housing Committee spent hours Wednesday wrestling with possible changes to a plan for ending the local COVID-19 eviction moratorium. In the end, the proposed amendments went nowhere.
The Housing Department’s proposal to end the city’s eviction moratorium by the end of this year moved forward unchanged. It still pegs Dec. 31, 2022, as the last day for COVID-19 eviction protections, with certain exceptions, and still lays out a schedule for repaying rental debt.
