The California Apartment Association forced the Santa Ana City Council to reconsider its vote on rent control this week after alleging that some elected leaders had violated the state’s primary open meetings law.

In a letter written on behalf of a diverse coalition of groups opposing rent control, CAA outlines what appear to be serious violations of the Brown Act, including private discussions of proposals by the mayor and some council members prior to an initial vote.
