With Part 1 of the California Apartment Association’s Landlord 101 webinar series just days away, rental housing providers still have time to register and gain practical insights into California’s complex legal environment.
The first session in this two-part series takes place Wednesday, Aug. 20, at 10 a.m., and will be available both live and on demand.
Whether participants own one rental unit or several, Landlord 101 offers a high-level overview of the legal topics every housing provider needs to understand. Part 1 will cover:
- Application process and screening criteria
- Fair housing concerns
- Lease and rental agreement basics
- Security deposits
- Rent collection procedures
In addition to covering these key areas, the webinar points attendees to relevant CAA forms, Industry Insight papers, and in-depth webinars for those seeking additional guidance. The session is designed to help landlords build a solid framework for addressing common issues and recognizing when further information may be needed.
The series is presented by Mallory Homewood, policy and compliance counsel for local government affairs at CAA, and Monica Deka, compliance and legislative counsel at the association.
Landlords may register for Part 1 individually for $55 for CAA members or $95 for nonmembers. A discounted bundle that includes both webinars is also available for $85 (members) or $115 (nonmembers). The second webinar, scheduled for Sept. 17, will focus on topics including rent increases, lease renewals, and tenancy terminations.
Each session runs approximately 1½ hours. CCRM-certified attendees may earn one unit of continuing education credit per webinar, or three units for the full series.
