Gov. Gavin Newsom today declared a state of emergency in Del Norte, Humboldt, and Mendocino counties in response to a 7.0 magnitude earthquake, triggering California’s anti-price gouging law and capping rent increases at no more than 10% above pre-emergency levels. These protections apply to both current tenants and new renters.
