The Los Angeles City Council on Nov. 5 voted unanimously to impose a $31.05 annual fee per rental unit on properties not covered by the city’s rent control law. The fee, which will take effect in January 2025, applies to multifamily rental units constructed in 1979 or later, rented condominiums built in the same timeframe, and all single-family homes, regardless of age.
