Gov. Gavin Newsom declared states of emergency on Wednesday, Sept. 11, for several Southern California counties in response to fast-moving wildfires, triggering California’s anti-price gouging protections. These protections cap rent increases at no more than 10% of pre-emergency levels for both current and prospective tenants during the emergency period.
