The Pomona City Council voted 5-2 this week to postpone its decision on a rent control ordinance but only until Aug. 1.

In addition, the mayor called for a special meeting to be held Tuesday, July 26.

The special meeting is, at best, a quick, makeshift workshop to discuss details of the rent control ordinance, which is modeled after Santa Ana’s rent control law.

“What we really need is everyone with rental property in Pomona to engage and attend the Aug. 1 council meeting to tell city council no on rent control,” said Matt Buck, vice president of public affairs for CAA in Los Angeles County.
