CAA Tri-County Membership Meetings May 2019 – San Jose

May 8 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

How to Avoid a Fair Housing Lawsuit!

Our goal is to help you avoid violating fair housing laws. There are some common mistakes that we see owners, management companies and on-site personnel make that can subject them to potentially costly fair housing complaints. This training will discuss those common mistakes (lack of training, documentation, issues in your rental criteria, disability accommodations, disability-related requests, assistance animals, suspected mental disability, restrictive children’s rules, and clumsy communications) and we’ll also give you practical pointers for avoiding them.

Shawn K. Bankson, Esq. Fair Housing Practice Group, Kimball, Tirey and St. John LLP

Mr. Bankson is a Partner in the Northern California office. He specializes in fair housing matters. Additionally, he is a frequent trainer for many associations’ and management companies throughout the state of California in the areas of fair housing and landlord/tenant law.
