The California Apartment Association is turning to its members for help thwarting what could become Santa Rosa’s second rent control measure in 17 months. Less than one year after voters rejected rent control in Santa Rosa, the North Bay Organizing Project and a group of local activists are collecting signatures in hopes of placing an even more burdensome rent control “just cause” eviction ordinance on the November 2018 ballot. Participation in voucher program should remain voluntary  The Marin County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday will consider “source of income protections” for prospective renters that would essentially require rental housing owners to participate in the Section 8 program. Supervisors can grant preliminary approval of the proposal during their Tuesday, Oct. 25, meeting. A second vote at a later date is required for formal adoption.

CAA partners with county, Housing Authority on affordable housing solutions Over the past several months, CAA North Coast and the Marin Income Property Association (MIPA) chapter have been working alongside the Marin Housing Authority and County Board of Supervisors on policy solutions to preserve affordable housing in the region.
