Mensinger, whose efforts have helped revitalize blighted areas of Costa Mesa, will receive the honor during the California Apartment Association’s Orange County Charity Gala.

Mensinger and several other elected officials will attend the elegant evening event, set for 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 22, at the Disneyland Hotel, 1150 Magic Way, Anaheim.

Tickets are $175 and will help CAA meet its goal of raising $50,000 for Orange County United Way to move 12 families into their own apartments. These families are either homeless or “housing insecure,” meaning they’re couch surfing, living doubled- or tripled-up in an apartment, staying in a motel or in some other precarious situation.

“Your upcoming gala is helping to raise funds to help kids get out of shelters, motels or unstable situations into a stable home so they can be safe to play, have a quiet place to study and ensure that they have the foundation that they need to be successful in life,” said Carla Vargas of United Way, who spoke to CAA members at a recent event.

Orange County United Way uses a method known as “Rapid Rehousing,” a community approach that helps families get back into permanent housing as quickly as possible.

In addition to helping homeless families rebound, attendees of the gala are in store for an evening of fine dining, networking, entertainment provided by comedian Skyler Stone.

Stone, who’s also an actor, writer and producer, starred in “CON,” his own prank-based show on Comedy Central. He’s also acted in several movies and has headlined dozens of comedy shows in the U.S. and abroad.

The gala also will bring fun and fundraising together through a silent auction. Property management members are invited to create a basket for the auction, filling them with goodies such as bottles of wine, handtools and golf equipment. If you’re interested in the silent auction, contact Jennie Bottalico without delay. Check out this pdf for more information.
