CAA members help Clovis fire victims

The California Apartment Association would like to thank Fresno-area members who are helping residents bounce back after a fire at Scottsmen Apartments in Clovis.

The July 30 fire destroyed 18 units and displaced 40 residents, according to this article in the Fresno Bee.

In response to an email from CAA soliciting assistance, the following members stepped up:

  • Clovis Apartment Group
  • ConAm Management Corporation
  • Fox Property Management
  • GSF Properties, Inc.
  • Manco Abbott, Inc.
  • Omninet Property Management
  • Robert L. Jensen & Associates
  • Royal T Management
  • San Mar Properties, Inc.
  • Vandenberghe Management
  • Westco Equities, Inc.
  • Winn Residential

These companies helped displaced tenants in a variety of ways, from waiving credit-check fees to allowing reduced security deposits to offering payment plans on deposits.

In addition, CAA Greater Fresno is working with the American Red Cross (Central Valley Chapter) to develop a Rental Housing Crisis Response Team to offer this type of help.

The Red Cross would train the team and activate it when a local fire or other disaster leaves families without shelter.

In a disaster, the Rental Housing Crisis Response Team would quickly meet with families in a safe environment to discuss available units and ways to move families in quickly.
