Under a plan announced by President Biden earlier this month, large employers, including those in the rental housing industry, would soon have to require that their workers be vaccinated against COVID-19 or submit to weekly tests.

The vaccine mandate is not yet in place. First, the Labor Department’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration must issue an emergency temporary standard with the vaccination/testing mandate. That should happen in the coming weeks.

Once the mandate takes effect, businesses will likely have 50-90 days to comply, with penalties of nearly $14,000 for each violation, according to this article by Reuters.

Nearly 80 million vaccine-eligible Americans still have not received their first COVID shot, the Biden administration said.
